Editing Users

WARNING: You should never give shell access to a user you do not trust. Although shell accounts are generally safe, there is always the possibility that a shell user could discover some unknown security exploit and gain access to important data or otherwise compromise your server.

To change the Full Name or access settings for an existing user account on your server, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the View/Edit/Delete User Accounts link from User Administration menu.

  2. Click the Edit link of the user account you wish to update.

The Edit User form appears, as shown below:

You can update the Full Name and access level for the user. If you select the "Email, FTP, and Shell" option, you can also change the user's login shell.

  1. Click Modify to activate the new settings.
