Adding Access Rules

To add an access rule to your access control settings, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Access Control link from the Mail Manager menu.

  2. Click the Add Access Rules link.

The following page appears:

NOTE: You can set access rules for groups of IP addresses by leaving off the last digit of the IP address. This feature is useful if you wish to grant relay access to a user whose Internet provider may assign a slightly different IP address every time they connect.

SECURITY ALERT: The RELAY action overrides the IP listings contained in the Automatic Relay Authorization list, thereby allowing the specified address to send mail through your outbound mail server without passing the POP Authentication process. This option is discouraged because it opens up your mail server to the possibility of being misused, or of being identified as a spam relay.

  1. Click the Add button to update your access settings.

  2. Click the Restart Sendmail link to activate the changes to your access settings.
